Three computer science students of the National University of Modern Languages (Numl) won a software competition organised by FAST-National University Islamabad. The students - Abdul Wali, Mehwish Hamid and Kanwal Rani - developed the software “Text to sign language interpreter”, which would be of great help for special people suffering from hearing and sight losses. The software has the ability to convert a soft form of the book into sign and audio languages. The students displayed their software in the competition which was appreciated by the judges. It may be noted that the same group of students had also won the Excite Cup Competition held at the Mohammad Ali Jinnah University last year. Abdul Wali said his teacher Attaullah Ghafoor guided the team to prepare the software. “Because of the experience, now the team members have got the confidence and we are determined to perform better in other competitions in the field of software development,” he said. Their university has also announced cash prizes and merit certificates for the students of NUML university.
