Latest Smartphone Sale Skyrockets in India is now announced form owner of this technology.International Data-Casting Company (IDC) stated in its new report that India’s smartphone market was expanding rapidly as sales in Asia Pacific Region in 1st quarter of the year exceeded to 186% as compared to previous year.
The vast majority of mobile phone users switched from feature phones to smartphones as market saw a massive shift in the buyers need as the ratio between the feature and smartphone was 90% and 10 % respectively in the 1st quarter of the previous year compared to this 1st quarter of year the ratio stands 71:29 implies the rapid growth rate in the 1st quarter.
The shift from feature phone to smartphone will exceed in the future further as cheaper version of smartphones would launch in the market. Compared to India’s 186 % growth, China registered a year-on year growth as 31 percent in 1st quarter of the year. In the Q1 2014, India shipped a total of 17.59 million smartphones compared to the 6.14 million units of last year.
According to the report, Samsung outshone its competitors with highest market share of 35%. After Samsung, India’s local mobile companies grabbed the 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions respectively as Micromax bags 15% share of the market, Karbonn mobile having 10% share while Lava Mobiles managed to grasp 6 % of market share.
“As more vendors continue to launch low priced smartphone models, the price gap between feature phones and smartphones will be narrowed, driving rampant user migration in the price sensitive Indian market,” says Manasi Yadav, Senior Market Analyst at IDC India.
“This rapid pace of growth in smartphones is expected to continue in India. While we notice that much of the growth is coming from low-cost devices using the Android operating system, Windows is making adequate gains too based on the strength of the entry level product mix in smartphones,” comments Kiran Kumar, Research Manager- Client Devices at IDC India.
