The International Data-Casting Company IDC has once again revealed its deep analysis of smartphone industry and their market shares and concluded that Android Market Share is reached almost 80 %. “Android is the main driving force behind the explosion of affordable devices – “low cost has equaled poor quality in the smartphone space” says IDC.
According to a new mobile phone forecast from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, Blackberry is going downward, as the buyers of company showing a continuous downfall having only 0.8% of market share. One of the reasons of it that it has very high Average Selling price (ASP). After Android’s 80.2%, Apple’s iOS grabbed the 2nd place by having 14.8% market share. iPhone sales will grow 20%, roughly matching the market expansion speed. That’s why the market share will remain stable. Windows Phone, with the continuous support from Nokia has managed to become a healthy competitor with 3.5% share.

As far as Average Selling Price is concerned Apple tops with $657, BlackBerry $339, Windows phone $265 and Android having least price of $254 while other operating systems priced at $154 only, while ASP to drop 6.3% from $335 last year to $314 this year, IDC reported.

Worldwide smartphone shipments will slow to 8.3% annual growth in 2017 and 6.2% in 2018 as mature markets become saturated and worldwide growth slows, service providers and device manufacturers are seeking opportunities to move to hardware whenever they can. The result implying rapidly declining price points, creating challenging environments in which to turn a profit. Worldwide smartphone average selling price (ASP) which is $314 currently, is expected to drop to $260 by 2018.
Android will remain a market leader but its growth would become saturate as the Average Selling Price (ASP) of Android handsets will be well below the general ASP this year. Like Android, iOS to decline slightly in upcoming years too. Windows phone going good with expected to grow 29.5% year-to-year. Blackberry would continue to fall down with 49.5% but still expected to be in the market in 2018.
