BISP releases over Rs84m for Waseela-e-Taleem in all over Pakistan for increase the importance of Education in Pakistan.Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has released first payment of Rs 84.114 million to 18,662 Waseela-e-Taleem (WeT) beneficiaries.According to a press release, the pilot phase of WeT was launched in October 2012 in five districts with an objective to increase and retain enrolments of five to twelve years of old children of BISP’s beneficiaries in primary education. The BISP beneficiaries were asked to send their children to schools and get additional cash of Rs 200 per child up to three children per family.The initiative was launched in five pilot districts in the country including Mirpur, Skurdu, Malakand Protected Area, Noshki and Karachi South. Due to some technical reasons, there was a delay in the release of payments to WeT beneficiaries. All future payments will be released on time, it is said. BISP has a grievance redressing system with all tehsil officers and atoll free number 0800-27677 on which complaints can be registered directly with the headquarters.
The government is committed to strengthening initiatives under BISP. BISP has already signed Memorandum of Understanding with all the provincial and regional education departments for their cooperation and support in achieving the common objective of maximising enrolment for primary education, the press release said.
